At Cornerstone, we believe one of the fundamental methods of discipleship is to read the Bible for yourself and spend time with God as you read. We also think it is really healthy for the people at Cornerstone to be reading the same things so that we can help each other in our understanding and application of the Bible.
For that purpose, we have a reading plan for the church called LifeNotes. The reading plan completes the New Testament every year, and the Old Testament every two years. Readings are done five days a week, leaving the weekend for review, deeper thought and even catch up if the week got too busy!
You can find this year’s reading plan in PDF form right here.
This year, we also want to encourage you to check out an additional reading plan being run by Foursquare. Last year had an intense focus on the book of Acts. This year, the focus is on the Gospels. By reading a chapter a day, you can read through each Gospel four times. As we read through there will be a focus in three month blocks on an aspect of the Foursquare Gospel (Jesus as Savior, Jesus as Healer, Jesus as Baptizer with the Holy Spirit, Jesus as Soon-Coming-King). If you would like to participate, here is a link to that reading plan in pdf format.
Many of us have also found it helpful to spend some time reading together. To facilitate this there are two groups that meet in the week, one for men and one for women. Both meet at the Flying M Coffee Garage in dowtown Nampa.
Guys meet on Wednesdays at 6.30am until 8am.
Ladies meet on Thursdays at 6.30am until 8am.
Please feel free to join us – just bring a Bible, pen and paper and enjoy some time with others gathered around the Scriptures as we look for the life, work and person of God in our readings.
